License and offline use
How activation works, what happens without a connection, and how your local TimeToBill file is separate from your license.
Your TimeToBill license determines whether the app is active on your computer and which features are available.
TimeToBill stores your settings and billing status in a local file on your computer. That file is called a TimeToBill file, or .ttb file. That file stays local, even if your license changes.
Activate license
After purchase, you receive a license key by email. Enter that key under Settings -> License.
If you lost the email, go to Support and request a management link or download links.
Devices
A license can be active on a limited number of devices. You can remove the license from the computer where TimeToBill is currently running. If you no longer have access to an old computer and hit the device limit, contact us through Support.
License check
TimeToBill periodically checks whether your license is valid. This requires a connection to TimeToBill.
This check is about your license. Your hours, invoice lines, and settings are not sent with it.
Without a connection
If you temporarily have no connection, TimeToBill can keep working for a period based on the last valid license check.
Make sure you are online from time to time, so the license status can be checked again.
After cancellation or expired license
If your license is no longer active, the app may show limitations. Which features remain available depends on the license status and the TimeToBill version.
Your TimeToBill file remains on your own computer.
